What is your problem mother nature?

A few days ago Japan felt the wrath of a horrendous 8.9 magnitude earthquake, the 5th largest earthquake to ever be recorded. The aftermath of this earthquake was not only mass devastation for Japan, but it triggered another natural disaster, a tsunami, which Japan and even California brunt the wrath of.

On February 22nd, just a few weeks prior, a 7.1 magnitude earthquake rocked New Zealand’s core. Though 166 have been confirmed dead, the number could prove to rise.

On February 2nd, Queensland was told to prepare themselves for a terrifying 24 hours as the “most catastrophic storm ever”, as Cyclone Yasi would take aim to its heavily populated shores.  Though Cyclone Yasi had only one death, its widespread damage will be fatal for the economy.

It seems these events should’ve been expected when the opening of the 2011 year was marked by natural disaster.  Remember the massive flooding in Northern Australia? This flooding was the result of significant rainfall from the La Nina season. Queensland Premier Anna Bligh called the flood’s reconstruction task of “post-war proportions.”

Indeed, with the amount of natural disasters and the strength behind them, it feels as if the whole world is engaging or recovering from a war against nature. After all, the above mentioned incidents are just from the Southern Hemisphere of the world, who has had the misfortune of battling blizzards and wicked weather, as well.

This begs the question to be asked…

What is your problem Mother Nature?

Unfortunately, She cannot speak for herself. Rather, numerous theorists, scientists, prophets, lunatics and the works have come up with explanations.

Some scientists and climate change experts blame it on global warming. Meanwhile, some scientists and climate change experts discredit global warming, saying it’s a part of a natural cycle. Then there are religious dogmatics who believe that Jesus is coming for judgement day, while apocalypse theorists believe it’s simply dooms day.

Of course, none of the explanations makes dealing with natural disasters any easier. In fact, we often end up not only confused about what the hell is going on, but now we have to contend with the possibility our imminent end is right around the corner.

So what is the solution?

Obviously I can’t answer that one…I already have a hard time finding solutions for simple mathematic problems. However, I did come up with a few things…

Start recycling, conserving water, stop wasting resources, etc.-basically do whatever you can do reduce the burden on the environment, even if some scientists discredit global warming or not. We know that this world isn’t going to sustain us all anyway if we don’t take care of it.

Start volunteering, help others, make a difference-if Jesus or some type of prophet is coming to judge us than you better start doing something good so you aren’t left behind!

Be happy, enjoy every day that you can, live your dreams-if the world is going to end in December 21, 2012, you only have 647 days remaining!

Femmefile readers, do you have ideas on what is going on with Mother Nature? Please share!
