Nyssa’s Confession: Shedding the Pain of my Past

Recently, we had the pleasure of getting to know Nyssa, an amazing a young woman who put her life on hold to help nurse her father through cancer.  Like many women, Nyssa neglected herself through this difficult time – but with discipline and determination (and a little help from Hypoxi), she managed to gain back control. This is her story…

A few years ago my father was diagnosed with a very aggressive cancer and given about a year to live.  I decided to move back home with my parents to support them through this hard time and as Dad’s health deteriorated we spent more and more time at home together – unfortunately we mainly sat around just watching TV and eating, putting in place bad habits I found hard to get rid of.

After Dad passed away I found myself in a pretty non-motivated place.  I used to enjoy exercise but found myself doing it less and less.  Mum was grieving in her own way, spending less time at home where all the memories were. So I found myself eating even more takeaways than previously – nobody wants to cook just for one person!  My weight ballooned out to over 100 kilos and it was about this time that I stopped weighing myself, it was just too depressing. At the end of the year I got the opportunity to travel to Europe for a few months with my uncle and his family, and afterwards decided to move to Melbourne.

Living just off Chapel Street where I was confront by dress shops every day made me realise the size I had got to and I decided it was time to do something about it – so I starting walking.  I am VERY pear-shaped and found that by eating properly and walking I was losing weight easily from my top half but not from my hips and legs…

And then one day, by sheer coincidence, I heard about Hypoxi.

I started using the L250 machine at Vibratone in South Yarra about a year ago – 2-3 times per week. After only a few weeks I really noticed the difference in my gym pants and jeans.  And once I stopped using it I found my weight loss really slowed down – so I’ve recently started using it again and feel like I am now on a roll again.

To date I have lost over 30 kilos.  I am now down to 75 kilos, and more importantly I have thrown out all the fat pants (as I can no longer keep them up!). I can now buy jeans on Chapel Street, have bought myself a pair of “short shorts”, and as my fitness has also increased substantially I am about to enter my first Fun Run. I’ll never be the same, but at least I feel confidence within myself again.
